The visual arts program presents students with the creative process approach that encompasses a sequential set of art experiences. The creative process enables students to acquire a variety of skills and techniques. Students are exposed to numerous visual arts areas such as drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and digital arts. Integrated in these areas of study is an understanding of the elements and principles of design and art history. Our students experiment with a large variety of professional and found art materials. Students are encouraged to take risks and analyse their work by reflecting and critiquing their own work and the work of others. Developing a strong personal style and individuality is strongly supported and encouraged. Enrichment is provided through outdoor sketching trips, visits to art galleries, and by inviting visiting artists into the school.
